Former President Donald Trump has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board in a Florida court after the administrators of the award honoring journalists refused to rescind their 2018 awards to The Washington Post and the New York Times for the debunked 2016 Russian collusion story.
Within the text of the lawsuit, Trump’s legal team wrote, “A large swath of Americans had a tremendous misunderstanding of the truth at the time the Times’ and the Post’s propagation of the Russia Collusion Hoax dominated the media. Remarkably, they were rewarded for lying to the American public,” according to Fox News.
“While elements at both the Times and the Post were almost certainly complicit in the Russia Collusion Hoax, is ultimately immaterial whether the authors of the Awarded Articles understood at the time they were propagating political disinformation manufactured by paid sources in an attempt mislead the public and tarnish President Trump’s reputation and political prospects,” the complaint added.
“What matters instead is the Defendants’ conduct, particularly when many of the key assertions and premises of the Russia Collusion Hoax that permeated the Awarded Articles had been revealed by the Mueller Report and congressional investigations as false after the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting had been awarded,” the Trump legal team asserted.
Trump called upon the Pulitzer board to reverse the prizes at three different points from 2016 up to 2021 stating that the articles published by the left-leaning outlets were “false reporting of a non-existent link between the Kremlin and the Trump Campaign.”
He characterized them as “no more than a politically motivated farce which attempted to spin a false narrative that my campaign supposedly colluded with Russia despite a complete lack of evidence underpinning this allegation.” Both assertions would be proven accurate through revelations of the provenance of the Steele Dossier upon which the entire narrative was constructed.

Even CNN was forced to concede after the Mueller investigation and the Durham probe,
“A series of investigations and lawsuits have discredited many of its central allegations and exposed the unreliability of Steele’s sources. They also raise serious questions about the political underpinnings of some key explosive claims about Trump by shedding new light on the involvement of some well-connected Democrats in the dossier, and separate efforts to prod the FBI to investigate ties between Trump’s campaign and Russia.”
In a July 2022 statement responding to Trump’s request, the Pulitzer board wrote in a statement, “These inquiries prompted the Pulitzer Board to commission two independent reviews of the work submitted by those organizations to our National Reporting competition. Both reviews were conducted by individuals with no connection to the institutions whose work was under examination, nor any connection to each other. The separate reviews converged in their conclusions: that no passages or headlines, contentions or assertions in any of the winning submissions were discredited by facts that emerged subsequent to the conferral of the prizes.”
The Federal Election Commission levied punitive fines against both the 2016 Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Democratic National Committee for lying about their role in the Steele Dossier according to The Post Millennial.
The Trump legal team noted, “At the time of publication, nearly every branch and agency of the federal government had examined this issue and reached the same conclusion: there was no conspiracy or cooperation between President Trump or the Trump Campaign and Russia.”
They also specifically criticized the Pulitzer Board for their July statement adding, “The Pulitzer Statement was knowingly published by Defendants to create a false implication in the mind of the reader that ‘the Trump campaign, the President-elect’s transition team and his eventual administration’ was connected with Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. Defendants did so with actual malice and the intention to harm President Trump and his reputation.”
Given that for over a century, the Pulitzer prize, ironically named for one of the fathers of the dishonest ‘Yellow Journalism’ of the early 1900s,’ has stood for the highest standards in the industry it could be an utter coup de grâce, a deathblow to the leftwing biased mainstream media for the Pulitzer Board itself to be found guilty of defamation.
