Alec Baldwin, who has been in hot water ever since the killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021, is expected to face criminal charges. The New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies will announce her decision on Thursday.

The Hollywood actor shot and killed Hutchins in October 2021 while filming the movie “Rust.” Baldwin, who was given a weapon that was accidentally loaded, was practicing a scene when the weapon fired. He has claimed that he did not pull the trigger.

In an NBC interview in late 2021, Baldwin claimed that “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never. Someone put a live bullet in a gun, a bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”

“Regardless of the District Attorney’s decision, the announcement will be a solemn occasion, made in a manner keeping with the office’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial process and respecting the victim’s family,” said a spokeswoman for the office of the First Judicial District Attorney, as reported by Fox News.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Alec Baldwin is expected to see a charge of involuntary manslaughter brought against him.

The armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who was responsible for the weapons on set, is expected to receive the same charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Film assistant director David Halls, who handed Baldwin the gun and was responsible for on-set safety, has agreed to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Both Baldwin and Reed could be facing up to 18 months in prison for the charge of involuntary manslaughter under New Mexico law.

With charges expected to be brought against Baldwin and other members of the crew, the Hutchins family can finally get some closure into the death of their loved one.
