Karine Jean-Pierre’s comments on the border situation resulted in an invitation to come and check it out from Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
Jean-Pierre responded to the invitation the following day.
“Sen. Ted Cruz, he’s suggested that you come down to see for yourself whether migrants are actually crossing the border by foot,” a reporter mentioned to Jean-Pierre.
“One thing I — I will say is I certainly don’t need lectures, or invitations from Republicans about the border or border policies,” Jean-Pierre said. “And, you know — and I certainly won’t take advice on border from — from anyone who voted against securing record level of funding for the Department of Homeland Security.”
This resulted in a back-and-forth between Jean-Pierre and Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy. She claimed the migrants weren’t able just casually to walk over the border, despite many contradicting claims as well as visual evidence.
“It’s not like somebody walks over,” Jean-Pierre stated.
“I’ve been to the border. I went in 2018. I stood outside facilities where the Trump Administration was separating families, tearing babies out of their mother’s arms. Some of those kids still haven’t been reunited with their families,” Jean-Pierre said
