Hillary yuks it up with Rachel Maddow over Trump being indicted in Georgia

On the night the lights went out in Georgia, Hillary Clinton appeared on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” and yukked it up over Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charging Donald Trump with 13 felonies in response to his efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.

“Madam secretary, fancy meeting you here,” Maddow quipped after referencing the former president being charged with racketeering, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer, and filing false documents, false statements and writings.“

Oh, I can’t believe this,” Clinton replied with a hearty laugh.

“This is not the circumstances in which I expected to be talking to you,” Maddow added, milking the moment.“

Nor me, Rachel,” Clinton said. “It’s always good to talk to you but honestly I didn’t think it’d be under these circumstances — yet another set of indictments.”

This coming from the woman whose campaign initiated the whole Russian collusion hoax that captivated the nation for two years, in large part because of a corrupt FBI and a complicit media, and never had to answer for it despite millions spent investigating the political attack. The same woman who walked scot-free despite her improper handling of classified information

But Clinton got her due after all the “Lock her up!” chants heard from Trump rallies, it seems.

The irony here being that those who have presented the greatest threat to “our democracy” with a two-tiered system of justice are now lecturing the country about the need for “justice.

”Noting that Clinton “warned the country essentially that [Trump] was going to try to end democracy,” Maddow asked Clinton if she feels any satisfaction.

“I don’t feel any satisfaction,” a suddenly serious Clinton replied. “I feel great profound sadness that we have a former president that has been indicted for so many charges that went right to the heart of whether or not our democracy would survive.”

“I don’t know that anybody should be satisfied,” she added. “This is a terrible moment for our country to have a former president accused of these terribly important crimes. The only satisfaction may be that the system is working… and justice is being pursued.”

Tuesday marks the fourth indictment against Trump, following special counsel Jack Smith indicting the former president in March and August, first for his handling of classified documents, as ironic as that may be, and then for his efforts on Jan. 6, and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg charging Trump in May with 34 felony counts over the alleged hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.

The onslaught of charges by Democratic prosecutors serves a dual purpose for their party, helping ensure Trump wins the GOP primary and loses the general against President Biden or whoever else the Democratic Party rolls out.
